Definitions

 

Organic (of food or farming methods): produced or involving production without the use of chemical fertilizers, pesticides, or other artificial agents.

 

Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO): A genetically modified organism contains DNA that has been altered using genetic engineering. Genetically modified animals are mainly used for research purposes, while genetically modified plants are common in today’s food supply.

 

Pesticides: a substance used for destroying insects or other organisms harmful to cultivated plants or to animals.

 

Raw Foods: unprocessed whole, plant-based, and preferably organic foods.

 

Processed (foods): perform a series of mechanical or chemical operations on (something) in order to change or preserve it.

 

Gluten: Gluten is a protein naturally found in some grains including wheat, barley, and rye. It acts like a binder, holding food together and adding a “stretchy” quality
